The Occupational First Aid Refresher Course aims to provide attendees with the relevant skills and knowledge required to maintain their occupational first aider role at the workplace.

As part of the Workplace Safety and Health Requirement, Occupational First Aiders are required to maintain a valid certification to meet mandatory requirements.

The Occupational First Aid Refresher Course covers all the topics required for workplace first aid proficiency in a shortened format for experienced first aiders. Includes CPR+AED training and recertification.

Pre-Requisites

To have at least ES WPLN Level 5 & above or equivalent as otherwise, you may find the course challenging to understand and pass the required assessments

Completed Occupational First Aid Course with CPR+AED (OFA) and currently holding a valid OFAC certificate

Must be physically fit and able to render help to another individual during an emergency

 

Mode of Assessment

Assessment

Written exam duration: 40 mins

(Minimum of 40 Multiple Choice Questions: 20 MCQs on OFA, 10 MCQs on CPR, 10 MCQs on AED)

Practical Exam Duration: 20 mins per participant (Bandaging, CPR+AED & case scenarios)

Passing Criteria 

Passing rate for OFA MCQs = 70% Passing rate for CPR + AED MCQs = 80% * If fail in CPR – AED considered as fail in whole examination and need to retake whole course. If fail theory examination or bandaging practical, need only to retake theory exam or bandaging practical.

Certification

Only participants with 75% attendance will be eligible to sit for the assessment. Certificate of Successful Completion and ID card will be awarded to participants who successfully completed the course and passed the assessments. Validity period of certificate is 2 years.

SCAL is accredited by Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) and the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) under ISO 29993:2017 to offer Occupational First Aid Refresher Course. The WSH (First Aid) Regulations (Cap. 354A, S65) Reg.5 stipulates that every person appointed as a first aider shall

(a) have successfully completed a training course acceptable to the Commissioner; and

(b) undergo such subsequent re-training in first-aid treatment as the Commissioner may require.

Funding Information

Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance

Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency

SCAL Academy reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria

Training provider will submit trainee details via SSG Training Provider Gateway and will bill in NETT fee if trainee is eligible for training grant. Note that all grants are subject for final approval by SSG.

Replacement/Postponement

A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes. Appeal of Assessment Result: (a) Students who wish to appeal for review of assessment results, please fill the Assessment Appeal Form that can be downloaded from website. There will be an admin fee of $60.00 (incl GST, non-refundable).
