Understanding the REDAS Design and Build Conditions of Contract - 4th Edition Amendments


Overview

REDAS published its 4th Edition of the REDAS Design and Build Conditions of Contract in March 2022 with several important amendments intended to bring the Conditions in line with recent developments in the Security of Payment Act and other recent legal developments. The speaker will examine these amendments with reference to caselaw and illustrations of how they are intended to work.

 

Outline

The speaker will examine the philosophy behind the design and build Conditions and undertake a detailed examination of the key provisions affecting the obligations of the design and build contractor. The workshop will also cover the new amendments to the REDAS form, their underlying rationale and Option Modules with references to recent caselaw developments.

 

Objective

The workshop aims to educate end users about the main provisions of the REDAS form and pitfalls to watch out for.

Speakers’ Profile

Christopher Chuah,

Partner, Infrastructure, Construction & Engineering, International Arbitration, China and Myanmar Practices, WongPartnership LLP and President, Chartered Institute of Building, Singapore (CIOB)

Christopher has extensive experience in overseas and international projects. In January 2018, Christopher was amongst the inaugural batch of select practitioners to be appointed Senior Accredited Specialist in Building and Construction Law by the Singapore Academy of Law for his years of experience in construction matters. He was amongst the first batch of adjudicators to be accredited under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act (Cap 30B, 2006 Rev Ed). He is also a member of the Construction Adjudication Accreditation Committee and co-editor of the Singapore Construction Adjudication Review. Christopher has also acted as leading counsel in many landmark construction cases. He is also an adjunct professor in Construction Law at the Law Faculty of the National University of Singapore.

Certification

An e-Certificate of Attendance will be issued to participant who complete the course with 100% attendance. 

 

Replacement/Postponement

A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes. 

 

Cancellation

A notice of cancellation must be given at least 3 working days before commencement of the course and 50% of course fee will be charged /returned. If notice is given less than 3 working days before the first day of the course, there will be no refund/100% charged.
