Target Audience

The “Manage Construction Work for WSH” is a mandatory training course for all individuals who are assigned to manage any construction project exceeding $10m in contract value e.g. project managers, project directors, construction managers, project engineers.
Learners are assumed to have:
• Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 6 and above or equivalence
• Knowledge of the construction industry activities

 

Assumed Skills and Knowledge ( Entry Requirement)
Learners must be holding the position of Chairman of Safety Committee, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Superintendent or equivalent post to be eligible to attend this course.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
Plan and implement safety programme, system and safe work procedure for construction activities in accordance with WHS Act, WSH (Construction) Regulations, and relevant legislations. Establish and implement WSH Management System in worksite in accordance with general principles and requirements of related WSH Regulations and Guidelines.

 

Statement of Attainment
A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued by SSG to candidates who are certified competent in this competency unit, and with a minimum of 75% attendance of entire course.

 

Course Description

This course is developed in accordance with the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) requirements and covers following performance statements:

  • Understand the legal obligations of duty holders, including the project manager of a worksite, under the new WSH framework
  • Form the WSH Committee and implement its functions
  • Plan and implement safety programme, system and safe work procedure for construction activities in accordance with WSH (Construction) Regulations
  • Plan and implement an occupational health programme and risk assessment in accordance with general principles and requirements of related WSH Regulations and Guidelines
  • Plan and implement risk management for all construction activities in accordance with general principles and requirements of related WSH Regulations and Guidelines
  • Establish the procedures for incident reporting, accident prevention and investigation in accordance with general principles and requirements of related WSH Regulations and Guidelines
  • Establish and implement Safety and Health Management System in worksite in accordance with general principles and requirements of related WSH Regulations and Guidelines
  • Plan and participate in safety and health audit and review in worksite in accordance with general principles and requirements of related WSH Regulations and Guidelines

 

Special Needs (if any)

  • Learners must have smart phone and install an eLearning App for purpose of eLearning.
  • Online access to internet by the facilitator and learners preferred.
  • SCAL would like to encourage prospective course participants to inform SCAL in advance of any special needs such as medical needs or difficult in movements.
  • Learners are encouraged to bring along their mobile devices including notebook computers, Tablets, Smart Phones …etc. for access to web resources during the classroom sessions.

Funding Information

Training provider will submit trainee details via SSG Training Provider Gateway and will bill in NETT fee if trainee is eligible for training grant. Note that all grants are subject for final approval by SSG.

Replacement/Postponement

A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes. Appeal of Assessment Result: (a) Students who wish to appeal for review of assessment results, please fill the Assessment Appeal Form that can be downloaded from website. There will be an admin fee of $60.00 (incl GST, non-refundable).
