Occupational First Aid Course is a mandatory course for personnel who will be appointed as a workplace first aider. The occupational first aid training aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and skills to provide first aid to adult casualties and to use the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively in the workplace. The course is aligned with the guidelines and methods stipulated by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC). This course is also recognised as the CERT First Aider Course with CPR + AED.

Mode of Assessment
Assessment
Written exam duration: 40 mins
(Minimum of 40 Multiple Choice Questions: 20 MCQ on OFA, 10 MCQ on CPR, 10 MCQ on AED)
Practical Exam Duration: 20 mins per participant (Bandaging, CPR+AED & case scenarios)
Passing Criteria
Passing rate for OFA MCQs = 70% Passing rate for CPR + AED MCQs = 80% * If fail in CPR – AED considered as fail in whole examination and need to retake whole course. If fail theory examination or bandaging practical, need only to retake theory exam or bandaging practical.

Certification
Only participants with 75% attendance will be eligible to sit for the assessment. Certificate of Successful Completion and ID card will be awarded to participants who successfully completed the course and passed the assessments. Validity period of certificate is 2 years.

SCAL is accredited by Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) and the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) under ISO 29993:2017 to offer Occupational First Aid Course. The WSH (First Aid) Regulations (Cap. 354A, S65) Reg.5 stipulates that every person appointed as a first-aider shall
(a) have successfully completed a training course acceptable to the Commissioner; and
(b) undergo such subsequent re-training in first-aid treatment as the Commissioner may require.

Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance
Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
SCAL Academy reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
Training provider will submit trainee details via SSG Training Provider Gateway and will bill in NETT fee if trainee is eligible for training grant. Note that all grants are subject for final approval by SSG.

Replacement/Postponement
A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes. Appeal of Assessment Result: (a) Students who wish to appeal for review of assessment results, please fill the Assessment Appeal Form that can be downloaded from website. There will be an admin fee of $60.00 (incl GST, non-refundable).
