Course Assessment
• Upon completion of the course, learners are required to sit for assessment which comprises:
- 2 hours written assessment (50 MCQ)
- 2 hours practical performance sessions


Statement of Attainment
A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued to candidates who are certified competent in this competency unit and with 100% attendance.


Course Objectives
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
• Understand the legal requirements regarding supervision of suspended scaffold
• Understand the roles and responsibilities as supervisor for suspended scaffold
• Perform safe rigging of suspended


Target Audience

This competency unit will be relevant to all workers supervising suspended scaold activities in the construction related industry.


Course Description

This course is developed in accordance with the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) requirements and covers following performance statements:
Identify standard components and parts of suspended scaffold including different outriggers and anchorages

  • Perform pre-start check of equipment and gears, start-up procedures, shut-down procedures, and emergency procedures
  • Interpret drawing with regards to rigging, installation and dismantling of suspended scaffold using different outriggers
  • Inspect suspended scaffolds, safety devices, braking system, anchorage points and related details
  • Perform troubleshooting of winch/climbing mechanism
  • Use personal protection equipment (body harness) and lifeline
  • Legal Requirements
  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Safe Rigging of Suspended Scaffolds
  • Interpretation of Design Drawings
  • Accident investigations and Case Studies

SCAL would like to encourage prospective course participants to inform SCAL in advance of any special needs such as medical needs or difficult in movements.
Learners are encouraged to bring along their mobile devices including notebook computers, Tablets, Smart Phones …etc. for access to web resources during the classroom sessions.

Funding Information

Training provider will submit trainee details via SSG Training Provider Gateway and will bill in NETT fee if trainee is eligible for training grant. Note that all grants are subject for final approval by SSG.



A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes. Appeal of Assessment Result: (a) Students who wish to appeal for review of assessment results, please fill the Assessment Appeal Form that can be downloaded from website. There will be an admin fee of $60.00 (incl GST, non-refundable).
