Overview:
This one-day course equips participants with comprehensive knowledge and concepts to understand the practice of risk assessment in the workplace. Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of risk assessment in eradicating unsafe practices and reducing the risk of harm to workers. The newly-announced framework of penalties by the High Court makes knowledge of risk assessment a pressing issue, as custodial sentences will be meted out to those who breach workplace safety rules leading to injury and ill health.

Singapore’s Risk Management Code of Practice (RMCP 2.0)

III. ALARP and Hierarchy of Control
Concept of ‘As Low As Reasonably Practicable’ (ALARP)
Application of the Hierarchy of Control

Speaker Profile
Mr. Leong Kum Seng
Mr. Leong Kum Seng is an associate Trainer with Singapore Contractors’ Association (SCAL), the Singapore Institute of Power & Gas (SIPG), BCA Academy and a consultancy and training company.
He is a Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) and has more than 30 years experience as heads of safety in several companies at corporate levels. He started as a Factory Inspector with the Ministry of Labour (now ‘Ministry of Manpower’) in 1971.
He left full-time employment with SPPG in 2015, capping a successful and rewarding dual career, spanning 44 years, in Occupational Safety & Health and underground utilities damage prevention works. He has worked extensively with all types of industries, including the construction sector, and is familiar with the specific hazards, problems and challenges in each of these. He has a Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Singapore Poly) and Advanced Diploma in Safety Management (Singapore Poly), Bachelor in Environment, Occupational Health & Safety (Newcastle, Australia) and a Masters in Social Science (South Australia).

An e-Certificate of Attendance will be issued to participant who complete the course with 100% attendance.
Replacement/Postponement
A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes.
Cancellation
A notice of cancellation must be given at least 3 working days before commencement of the course and 50% of course fee will be charged /returned. If notice is given less than 3 working days before the first day of the course, there will be no refund/100% charged.
