What is the Registered Earthworks Supervisor Course?

The Registered Earthworks Supervisor Course is designed to train professionals in supervising earthworks to prevent underground utility damage. It covers relevant legislation, control measures, and best practices. By completing this course, participants will be equipped to effectively manage and oversee earthwork activities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and preventing damage to electricity cables and gas pipes.

 

Course Description

The Registered Earthworks Supervisor course aims to provide an overview of the relevant earthworks legislation and code of practice relating to construction earthworks carried out in the vicinity of the electricity cables/ gas pipes. Participants will learn about the key requirements of the relevant legislation, control measures and good practices to prevent damage to the underground cables, gas pipes and services. Case studies will also be discussed in this course. The Registered Earthworks Supervisor course is available online, facilitated by a qualified trainer. Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the statutory requirements and legislation for earthworks of electricity cables under the Electricity Act (Cap 89A), Gas Act (Cap 116A) and Singapore Standard SS576:2012 – Earthworks in the vicinity of Electricity Cables

  • Supervise all earthworks and to communicate effectively with site personnel in the course of earthwork activities

  • Plan, prepare and manage earthwork activities safely to prevent damage to electricity cables

 

Target Audience

This course is targeted at any person whose trade or occupation requires or includes the supervision of earthworks.

 

Assessments

While the course is conducted at SCAL Academy and Online, the assessment is held at SIPG Woodleigh Campus (1A Woodleigh Park)

Assessment

  • Closed-book Assessment

  • 20 MCQs (40 marks)

  • 10 True or False Questions (10 marks)

Passing Criteria

  • Passing criteria is 75%

Assessment dates

  • Exam slots will be assigned by SCAL Academy

  • Strictly no changes allowed except for valid reasons and subject to SCAL Academy approval, otherwise administrative charges will apply.

 

Certification

Participants with 75% attendance and passing the assessment will receive a certificate from Singapore Institute of Power and Gas (SIPG) on the spot.

Replacement/Postponement

A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes.
