Behavioural-Based Safety and Design for Safety – A Synergistic Approach

Integrating Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS) and Design for Safety (DfS) approaches to reduce accidents and injuries

Overview

Behavioural-based Safety (BBS) and Design for Safety (DfS) are two complementary approaches to reducing accidents and injuries. Their combined implementation can significantly improve overall safety performance. Behaviour-based Safety (BBS) focuses on what cause employees to behave in certain manners, and through training, feedback, and reward systems promotes an accident free workplace and environment. Design for Safety (DfS), on the other hand, aims to create work places that prioritize and promote safety from design, construct, occupancy, maintenance, to demolition stage, i.e. safety throughout the building life cycle.

This course will focus on how BBS and DfS can be integrated synergistically to complement each other in our quest for a safer work and living environment for everyone. Participants will be introduced the A-B-C Model of human behaviour and how it can be used in the Design for Safety process.

Objective

Explore the dynamic synergy of Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS) and Design for Safety (DfS) in our seminar. Discover how the integration of these approaches enhances safety, reduces accidents, and fosters a secure work environment. Uncover the A-B-C Model of human behavior, linking it seamlessly with the Design for Safety process.
