What is PMSE | WSQ Perform Metal Scaffold Erection?

PMSE | WSQ Perform Metal Scaffold Erection is a course that provides essential training to safely erect and dismantle metal scaffolds in compliance with WSH regulations. This mandatory course is designed for workers involved in metal scaffold activities in construction and related industries.

 

Course Description

The Metal Scaffold Erection Mandarin course provides attendees with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to erect and dismantle metal scaffolds per WSH regulations effectively and safely. The “Perform Metal Scaffold Erection (Mandarin)” is a mandatory WSH training course for all workers working in construction sites and related industries who are involved in metal scaffold activities. The course is conducted and assessed fully in Mandarin.

 

Course Topics

  • Introduction to metal scaffolding

  • Type and classification of scaffold systems

  • Safe work practices in the erection and dismantling of modular scaffold/ frame scaffold/ tubular independent tied scaffold/ tower scaffold

  • General principles and requirements of SS659, WSH(Scaffold) Regulations and other related WSH Regulations for the erection and dismantling of metal scaffold

  • Definition and terminology used in metal scaffolding system as well as its materials

  • Requirements for ties and braces

  • Static and mobile tower scaffold and their requirement

 

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • List rules and regulations to ensure safety in erecting scaffold system

  • Identify, select, set up and perform pre-checking of scaffolding system

  • Perform erection and dismantling frame scaffold 

  • Perform erection and dismantling tubular independent tied scaffold

  • Perform erection and dismantling tower scaffold 

  • Perform erection and dismantling modular scaffold

  • Perform housekeeping and maintain record keeping of scaffold system in accordance with safe work practices and regulatory requirement

 

Target Audience

Mandarin speaking Individuals who are required to erect and dismantle metal scaffolds.

 

Pre-requisites

Attendees must be physically fit

Attendees are assumed to have:

  • Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy level 3 and above

  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace Numeracy Level- Level 3 and above.

Assessment

  • 1 hour of written test
  • 7 hours of practical performance assessment

 

Passing Criteria

  • 75% - Written Test
  • 100% - Competency in practical assessments

The learner must be physically fit and able to climb up and down a scaffold of 2 to 4 meters high and carry an object e.g., scaffold tube or component max. 15kg of weight during the practical session.

SCAL would like to encourage prospective course participants to inform SCAL in advance of any special needs such as medical needs or difficulties in movement.

Replacement/Postponement

A notice of replacement/postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes. The appeal of Assessment Result: (a) Students who wish to appeal for review of assessment results, please fill out the Assessment Appeal Form that can be downloaded from the website. There will be an admin fee of $60.00 (incl GST, non-refundable).
