What is PRSS | WSQ Perform Rigging of Suspended Scaffold?

PRSS | WSQ Perform Rigging of Suspended Scaffold is a mandatory course for workers involved in rigging suspended scaffolds in the construction-related industry. The course provides essential training in safe rigging practices, equipment checks, and compliance with safety regulations. Participants will gain the skills needed to perform rigging tasks safely and effectively.

 

Course Description

Perform Rigging of Suspended Scaffold course also known as the gondola rigging course aims to provide attendees with the skills and knowledge to perform rigging of suspended scaffold activities. The “Perform Rigging of Suspended Scaffold” is a mandatory training course for all workers performing rigging of suspended scaffold activities in the construction-related industry

 

Course Topics

 

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand standard components and parts of suspended scaffold including different outriggers and anchorages

  • Perform pre-start check of equipment and gears, start-up procedures, shut-down procedures, and emergency procedures

  • Perform rigging, termination of wire ropes and installation of suspended scaffold

  • Perform visual check of suspended scaffold, braking system, safety devices, anchorage points, wire ropes and related details

  • Perform troubleshooting of winch/climbing mechanism

  • Use personal protection equipment (body harness) and lifeline

 

Target Audience

  • Individuals who are involved in the rigging of suspended scaffold activities

  • Individuals who wish to be employed as a certified suspended scaffold rigger

 

Pre-requisites

Attendees must be physically fit

Attendees are assumed to have:

  • Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy level 3 and above

  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace Numeracy Level- Level 3 and above.

 

Assessments

Assessment

  • 1 hour of written test

  • 3 hours of practical performance assessment

 

Passing Criteria

  • 75% - Written Test

  • 100% - Competency in practical assessments

Certification

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued to candidates who are certified competent in this competency unit.

Funding Information

Training provider will submit trainee details via SSG Training Provider Gateway and will bill in NETT fee if trainee is eligible for training grant. Note that all grants are subject for final approval by SSG.

Learners must be physically fit and able to climb up and down a scaffold of 2 to 4 meters high and carry an object e.g., scaffold tube or component max. 15kg of weight during the practical session.

SCAL would like to encourage prospective course participants to inform SCAL in advance of any special needs such as medical needs or difficulties in movement.


Replacement/Postponement

A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes. Appeal of Assessment Result: (a) Students who wish to appeal for review of assessment results, please fill the Assessment Appeal Form that can be downloaded from website. There will be an admin fee of $60.00 (incl GST, non-refundable).
