What is the WSQ Supervise Safe Lifting Operations Course?

The WSQ Supervise Safe Lifting Operations Course is designed to equip individuals with the skills to oversee safe lifting operations. Course Description

The "Supervise Safe Lifting Operations" course, formerly known as the "Lifting Supervisor Course," is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills required to supervise crane operators in safely maneuvering loads to their destinations. This course is suitable for both aspiring and experienced individuals assigned as Lifting Supervisors in the workplace.

 

Course Topics

Preparation for Safe Lifting:

  • Adhere to risk assessments,legislation, and organizational procedures.

  • Participate in lifting-related briefings and ensure proper use of equipment, PPE, and communication tools.

 

Supervision of Lifting Operations:

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Prepare to supervise safe lifting operations

  • Carry out supervision of safe lifting operations

  • Supervise reinstatement of safe lifting operations

 

Target Audience

This course is mandatory for individuals who are assigned to supervise lifting operation involving a mobile crane or tower crane or any other crane in the workplace.

Pre-requisites

  • Have completed the WSQ Perform Rigger and Signalman Tasks course

  • Have relevant experience in lifting operations for at least 3 months, supported by a company/individual application letter

  • Be 21 years old and medically fit to listen and speak English, read and write English, and manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills (ES) level 4

 

Assessments

Assessment

  • 2 hours of written test

  • 1 hour of practical performance assessment

 

Passing Criteria

  • 65% (MCQ Section A) & 100% (MCQ Section B) - Written Test

  • 100% - Competency in practical assessments

Certification

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued to candidates who are certified competent in this competency unit.

Replacement/Postponement

A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes. Appeal of Assessment Result: (a) Students who wish to appeal for review of assessment results, please fill the Assessment Appeal Form that can be downloaded from website. There will be an admin fee of $60.00 (incl GST, non-refundable).
