Course Overview

The HR Policy Manual, also known as a Human Resources Policies and Procedures Manual, is an internal document that encompasses all company policies. Sometimes referred to as "HR Operations Manuals " by organizations, these policies serve the management of the employee team and cover all details regarding employee management. Developing these policies and procedures and constantly reviewing them must be at the top of an organization ' s HR strategy. The formulation of these policies and procedure is delicate and must therefore be handled with care as any inconsistencies or misinterpretations may have profound legal implications for an organization. Creating and formulating HR policies and procedures that align with legislation, industry trends, and general employment trends is essential as it helps foster a conducive, fair, safe and positive work environment. This workshop will provide HR practitioners and owners of SMEs an overview approach to developing, implementing, communicating and reviewing Human Resource policies that will become a strategic tool for employees’ management and organization growth.

At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to: * Distinction between HR Policy and HR Procedure * Acquire a clear understanding of the fundamentals of HR policies and procedures and their roles within the organization * Gather adequate knowledge on how to structure, develop and implement HR policies and procedures that are relevant, clear, compliant and effective.

The workshop content is made up of:

* Defining HR policy and procedure

* Understand the importance of the HR policy manual

* Steps involved in developing the Company’s HR policies and procedures with considerations given to organization’s needs and in compliance with legal, ethical and socio-cultural requirements

* Develop communication and implementation plans to address the impact of changes

* Consult key stakeholders to obtain buy in and approval of policies and procedures

* Evaluate policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness, clarity and relevance of the framework

Speaker's Profile

Mr Hubert KUM is currently the Principal Consultant of Elite HR Services Pte Ltd which offers HR consultancy services in addition to the company’s core business in the provision of recruitment and employment search services. His clients are mainly from the Oil and Gas, Manufacturing and Services sectors.

Mr Hubert KUM has accumulated more than 20 years of human resources management experience serving the MNCs and SMEs SMEs (NTUC Income, Agility Logistics, Tally Solutions, Metal Component Engineering) in various industries. Leading a team of HR professional as Head of Department then, Mr Hubert KUM spearheaded the HR initiatives in the organizations that he worked with including the formulation of HR policies, reviewing of compensation and benefits programs as well as learning and development activities within those organizations.

Mr Hubert KUM is also a course facilitator with 15 years of lecturing experience at certificate, diploma and degree level in subjects such as Human Resource Management as well as Marketing and Business. He holds a Master in Business Administration (HR major) from the University of Central Queensland, a Graduate Diploma in Compensation and Benefits Management from the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and a Diploma in HRM from the then Singapore Productivity Board.
