Course Description

The Assess Confined Space for Safe Entry and Work Course (CSSA), also known as the Confined Space Assessor Course or Confined Space Management (CSM), covers principles in working within/around confined space. It includes the knowledge and skills for the use of appropriate gas testing equipment and methods to obtain representative results for the assessment of atmospheric condition in confined space for safe entry and work. The skill and knowledge covered will enable the learners to be appointed as confined space safety assessor under the relevant regulations.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Prepare for confined space assessment with persons involved in confined space safety management in accordance with the applicable legal and other requirements.

  • Identify hazards and take measures to prevent harm to safety and health when entering and working in confined space.

  • Conduct gas testing to ascertain the atmospheric condition in the confined space is safe for entry in accordance with the applicable legal and other requirements; organisational confined space programme and entry permit system.

  • Participate in risk control and emergency response in accordance with legal and other requirements.

  • Monitor the confined space conditions and control measures for safe working.

  • Individuals who are or intend to serve the role of a confined sapce assessor
  • Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) professionals such as WSH Coordinators, Officers, and Auditors

  • Occupational Hygiene (OH) professionals such as OH Technicians etc

  • Confined space entrants, attendants, supervisors, rescue personnel

 

Pre-requisites

Learners must full requirements A OR B:

A) Other relevant skills/ working experience - WSH Skills & Knowledge equivalent to Certificate in WSH

B) 3 years of relevant working experience in operations and co-ordination of safety work

 

Assessments

Assessment

Individuals will be assessed through various methodologies such as written questioning, written assignment, case studies, practical and oral questioning

 

Passing Criteria

• Section A: 25 MCQs - 70%

• Section B: 3 Short Answer Questions

• Section C: Case Study

(Competency-Based for Section B&C)

Certification

Participants who achieved at least 75% attendance and certified competent will receive an ID card and a WSQ e-Cert Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by SSG.

Replacement/Postponement

A notice of replacement / postponement together with the full particulars of the new participant (for replacement) must be given to us AT LEAST 3 working days before course commencement. A charge of S$50 (replacement) or S$100 (postponement) will be imposed on such changes. Appeal of Assessment Result: (a) Students who wish to appeal for review of assessment results, please fill the Assessment Appeal Form that can be downloaded from website. There will be an admin fee of $60.00 (incl GST, non-refundable).
